The Easy Rider

The EasyRider: S.U.P.

Stand Up Paddling (or SUP for short) is taking the world by storm.  It is not only the fastest growing water sport - but also the fastest growing sport in the world.

Store owner Warren has been paddling modern SUP boards since 2007 and was standing on sailboards with a paddle since he was a kid.

At Easy Rider we have taken the same approach to SUP as we have to the other sports we carry.  That being "if we are going to do it - we must do it right!"

With over 100 SUP boards in stock we have the largest selection in Canada, and most of the USA as well.   All of the staff here paddle and know what they are talking about.   Stop by and find out about this awesome new sport.

SUP Brands carried:
Starboard / Naish / Rogue / Coreban / Hobie / 404 / Riviera / Jimmy Lewis / Quickblade / Werner / C4 / On A Mission / DaKine / and many more.

SUP Polo!

Easy Rider is proud to present the North American debut of Starboard SUP Polo.

Tuesday, June 30 at Hermitage Park Lake at 7:00 PM
Registration is at 6:45 PM   FREE!

SUP Polo is a super fun way to bring a team sport into Stand Up Paddling.
Starboard tested the waters with it last October at their International Dealers meeting in Spain – which I was fortunate enough to be at.
We used any Inflatable board we could – and hand made paddles in the swimming pool of the resort we were staying at.
It was country against country – with Team Mexi-Can (2 paddlers form Mexico and Me from Canada) coming out as the first ever “World Champion SUP Polo” Team.

I was so stoked on the new “fun” way to paddle that I put in the first order for boards / paddles and nets in the world.

We now have it in – and are ready to play.

We will be playing 3 on 3 – and first team to score 2 goals (it’s harder than you think).

If you have a team of 3 – great – if not – just come on out and we will make up teams for you.

Come on out this Tuesday and get in on the FUN!

Battle at Telford Lake SUP Race – Results.

Sunday, June 21 saw the running of the 3rd Annual Easy Rider – Battle at Telford Lake SUP Race.
The weather was the best we have had in the short history of this event – with just a little bit of wind – and sunny skies.

New this year was the inclusion of the Joker Lap – where each paddler was allowed to short cut the course one time during their race.
The Joker Lap strategy was used with success on a few occasions – allowing paddlers to either get into “clean” water – or make a pass on someone.

The Open class racers were the fist to hit the water – and completed 3 laps of the course.
Greg showed that age is only a number – taking 1st over all.   Followed by my 2 sons in second and third!

Next up was the Kids / Youth class – with racers ranging from age 6 to 15.  The under 10 class did one lap, while the 11 to 15 year olds did 2.
Big props to Kira who at age 8 – decided to do 2 laps!   Watch out for her in the future!

Last to start were the Elite racers – who did 5 laps of the course.
Ryan jumped out to an early lead and held it until the finish.   2nd and 3rd was a battle between Genna and Delmer – with Genna pulling out a bit of distance on the last lap.

The event was capped off by our “semi famous” draw prizes – where everyone won something!

Thanks to all my staff / family and team for helping out at the event, and thanks to the competitors for coming out and having fun!

Stand Up Paddleboard Selection

We here at The Easy Rider have always strived to provide you with the best possible selection of top quality products.

This is especially true in our board selection.  Whether it is the over 500 different Snowboards we have in stock in the winter, the over 200 different Longboard Skateboards we have in, in the Spring and Summer , or the 186 DIFFERENT Stand Up Paddleboards that we have IN STOCK – RIGHT NOW.

Other shops may boast the “best selection”, but no shop in Canada, and only 1 or 2 in the United States even comes close to our selection.

You may ask, “but why the huge selection?” – The answer is simple . . . So you can get the exact right board for you, and your paddling needs.

Come on by, or drop us an email – and we can help you navigate our selection to find the perfect board for you.

North Saskatchewan River SUP Trek

At the end of July we held one of our famous Devon to Laurier Park in Edmonton SUP River Trek’s.

We once again seemed to luck out with a perfect weather day!
Twenty five paddlers had a great time paddling 35 km down the North Saskatchewan River.

Watch this space for the dates for our “fall colors” river paddle.
