Easy Rider opened its doors on December 6, 1996 and is owned by Warren Currie. Warren has been involved in the action sports industry in Edmonton since 1980, when as a high school kid he ordered his first Burton Backhill snowboard from Jake Burton.
In the mid 1980's Warren and his brother Scott were instrumental in getting snowboarding allowed at ski areas in northern Alberta.
Warren has been involved in a few different stores over the years. Starting as a part time "basement sweeper" at The Inside Edge on 124 Street and Stony Plain Road. From there Warren went one to manage and then part own The Inside Edge – St. Albert. After the original "Edge" closed, Warren changed the St. Albert store to The New Ground and also opened a location on 109 Street in Edmonton.
In August of 1995 it was time for the partners of The New Ground to "part ways" and Warren moved on to open his own store a few months later.
The original location of The Easy Rider (next to the Cineplex) was a tiny 1100 square feet. Over the next 4 years we grew until we were bursting at the seams with product.
In November of 2000 we moved to a location 40 meters away - that was more than 3 times the size of the original location.
Four years later (November 2004) we moved again – still within Whitemud Crossing, and about 100 meters from the original location. Our current store is approximately 3500 square feet covering 2 floors. The upstairs is where all the hard goods are and the main floor is for clothing, shoes and accessories. We have a giant 12 foot by 9 foot screen for showing movies and many other cool features.
We continue to specialize in Snowboards, Skateboards (both regular and longboards), Wakeboards, Shoes, Clothing, Accessories and in the summer of 2006 we added Stand Up Paddle boards to our line up.
Our main focus is still "Having fun doing something different".
Warren and all of the staff actively participate in all of the sports we sell, so we actually know what we are talking about when you come in. If you have been into the shop before – Thank You, if not, stop by and say Hi.
Hope to see you soon.
Warren

We have been very fortunate to be able to work with Jimbo Phillips on several occasions.
Jimbo is the son of famous California artist Jim Phillips.
Jim was responsible for all of the art work for Santa Cruz / Indy / OJ’s and many other skateboard companies in the 1980′s
His son James (Jimbo) has taken over and is now doing graphics for many companies in the surf / skate / snow industry.
Here are the ones he has done for us.
