The Easy Rider

The EasyRider: S.U.P.

Stand Up Paddling (or SUP for short) is taking the world by storm.  It is not only the fastest growing water sport - but also the fastest growing sport in the world.

Store owner Warren has been paddling modern SUP boards since 2007 and was standing on sailboards with a paddle since he was a kid.

At Easy Rider we have taken the same approach to SUP as we have to the other sports we carry.  That being "if we are going to do it - we must do it right!"

With over 100 SUP boards in stock we have the largest selection in Canada, and most of the USA as well.   All of the staff here paddle and know what they are talking about.   Stop by and find out about this awesome new sport.

SUP Brands carried:
Starboard / Naish / Rogue / Coreban / Hobie / 404 / Riviera / Jimmy Lewis / Quickblade / Werner / C4 / On A Mission / DaKine / and many more.

Tavarua 2012

At the beginning of April (just after our 25th Annual Snowboard Cup) I was again fortunate enough to be invited to go to Tavarua, Fiji.

Right before we were to leave the area was hit with torrential rains, and it was not until about 30 hours before our scheduled departure that we were told that the trip was still on.  Once arrived in Nadi, on the island of Viti Levu, Fiji – it was evident the damaged the rains had done.
Roads were washed out, bridges gone, and flood damage everywhere.

The Fijian people are remarkable and were hard at work cleaning up and getting on with life.

The 45 minute bus ride out of town to the pick up point for the boats could have been filmed for an episode of Deadliest Roads.

Once on the island we were again in our own paradise.

I’ll let the photos do the talking from here, only to add if you ever get a chance to go to Fiji, or more specifically, Tavarua – you must go.

My Starboard 9'5" Widepoint waiting in the Edmonton airport. For some reason it wouldn't fit on the luggage belt.

Although the water had gone down - there was still lots of damage on Viti Levu

Angela and I would paddle a couple laps around the island every morning.

Fishing is pretty good too! Tom and I with a couple Yellow Fin Tuna (which are made into Sashimi for dinner the next night).

The food is all time. This is only lunch one day.

The bottom sticker is the Truth!

Happy.

On the final night the locals host a Kava Ceremony.

See you again!
